Workshop on Bioengineering

Workshop on Bioengineering is a key activity of the Forum. It provides a platform for participating universities to communicate research ideas and achievements in diverse areas related to Bioengineering, to share experiences and approaches to Bioengineering education, and to explore potential research collaboration and partnership.

REPORT
This year’s Workshop was hosted by the National University of Singapore on March 11-12, 2017 at the University Hall’s Auditorium. The Workshop was successfully organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Altogether, 15 invited speakers from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), National Taiwan University (NTU), Tsinghua University (TU), the University of Tokyo (UTokyo), and National University of Singapore (NUS) delivered exciting talks on Bio-Devices, Bio-Inspired Materials, as well as Graduate Education in BME. About 72 participants, including academic staff and graduate students from NUS actively participated in discussions. NUS BME graduate students also presented 15 posters during the lunchtime and tea breaks, demonstrating a wide range of BME research activities at the host institute. The Workshop also featured Round Table Discussions on Future Collaborations. 35 faculty members from participating universities exchanged ideas on directions and strategies to develop and strengthen collaborations on research and education.

At the Opening Ceremony, Prof James Goh (Head, NUS BME) give a welcome address. Opening Speeches were given by Prof Teo Kie Leong (Vice-Dean (Research), NUS Faculty of Engineering) and Prof. Mamoru Mitsuishi (Dean, School of Engineering, University of Tokyo)
